Industry Day 2023

Parsons Inc. (Parsons) as the Main Construction Manager (MCM) for the Giant Mine Remediation Project (GMRP), acting as the Prime Contractor and Mine Manager is committed to ensuring procurement will be conducted in a fair, open, and transparent manner while addressing Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement (CLCA) obligations and the Government of Canada’s procurement objectives regarding Indigenous opportunities. Parsons hosted an in-person Industry Day over December 5 and 6, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. MT. The event was held at the Quality Inn in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

During Industry Day, Parsons provided an overview of the upcoming work packages for 2024:

  • Demolition and Debris – Core Industrial Area
  • Highly Arsenic Contaminated (HAC) Soil Washing
  • Site Wide Surveying

Parsons also provided an update on the anticipated 2025 work packages including the following:

  • AR 1 Freeze Installation
  • Underground Stabilization – Long Term Portal
  • Earthworks Remediation Package
  • Water Treatment Plant Operation
  • Borrow Production and Management – On site

Parsons also provided an update on the overall schedule for the project to its expected completion in 2038 as well as discussions on the Socio-economic Benefits program and procurement process.

Parsons is committed to aligning tendered work packages with local business capacity to maximize Indigenous training, employment, subcontracting, and other opportunities involving Indigenous citizens and businesses in carrying out the work under this project.
